Louise Pettus Archives and Special Collections

The Winthrop University Archives collects and preserves records, papers, books, artifacts, and other endangered historical material relating to South Carolina history, Women’s History, Winthrop, and subjects corresponding to the Winthrop curriculum.

As a security measure, a Winthrop University identification card or a scheduled appointment will be required to access the Archives collection. Researchers are encouraged to call, write, or email before coming to the Archives so that we may better serve you. Generally the Archives' business hours are from 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday, however hours may vary during summer and holidays. Under certain circumstances, the Archives will except appointments during non-business hours from 5:00-7:00 Monday through Thursday and/or Saturday 9:00-1:00 for researchers with at least 3 business days of notice.
