Library Services Quick Guide

Brief guide to basic library services

Additional Requesting Options

Winthrop students, faculty, and staff  may use Interlbrary Loan to request materials that are not available at Dacus or from any PASCAL institution.

Winthrop University faculty may request up to 5 scans from Dacus materials each semester. All requests must comply with Federal Copyright Law, the Winthrop University Copyright Policy, and currently accepted best practices.  The library cannot scan selections from textbooks or other materials sold specifically for classroom use. Please see the Interlibrary Loan Guide for complete requesting information.

PASCAL Digitization

PASCAL Delivers Digital provides an additional avenue for faculty to request articles and small excerpts from physical resources from PASCAL member institutions, as well as Dacus physical resources! Currently, this service is not available for electronic books and journals, or for materials available only outside the PASCAL consortium. Continue to place these requests with the Interlibrary Loan Department.  All requests will be delivered as e-mail attachments.

Request parameters are in place to ensure compliance with Winthrop's Copyright Policy and the Copyright Law of the United States. Dacus library and our PASCAL lending partners reserve the right to refuse any request that exceeds these or the lending institution's guidelines:

  • A single chapter from a book
  • One article from an issue of a journal
  • No more than 5 articles from the same publication
  • Winthrop University faculty and graduate students may request digital copies of brief excerpts from Dacus Library's physical collection. Please review the instructions and requesting limits in the document below.
