Mission of the Library and Purpose of the Collection

As Winthrop University’s main research library, Ida Jane Dacus Library supports all academic undergraduate and graduate programs taught throughout the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business Administration, College of Education, College of Visual and Performing Arts, and University College.

Dacus Library’s primary users are Winthrop’s students, faculty, and staff. Thus the Library collection’s main purpose is to serve the instructional, curricular and research needs of its primary users.
