Library Collection Development

A high-level overview of the ordering process, liaison roles, and collections policies.

Purchase Requests

Faculty members requesting titles should contact their department's liaison to submit their request for a title.

Textbooks:

The Library has a reserves collection for textbooks, but does not purchase textbooks.  Instead, this collection relies on donated materials.  We encourage faculty who have received a review copy of their textbook to donate it to Dacus for student use.

Students and staff may suggest a title for purchase. Each request is reviewed by one of our librarian faculty, but due to the high volume of requests and limited funding, our ability to fulfill requests is limited. Requests may be submitted to acq@winthrop.edu.

Departmental liaisons place orders for books and media by using the procedures and guidelines found elsewhere in this guide. If you have questions or need a refresher, please email us at acq@winthrop.edu or contact your library liaison.

The order information should include as much detail about the title as possible, including:

  • Your name
  • Title of publication
  • Author
  • Publication Year
  • Price
  • ISBN (when available)
