PASCAL (Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries)
PASCAL Delivers has resumed borrowing/lending services on an opt-in basis. Dacus Library has chosen to opt-in, meaning patrons are able to request PASCAL materials from other statewide participating institutions that have also chosen to opt-in. Currently, the PASCAL courier is only delivering materials on Mondays and Wednesdays; if this continues, it may take longer than the usual 3 to 5 business days to receive requested items. Check back for updates.
Patrons who still have PASCAL Delivers materials that were checked out during Spring Semester should begin returning them as soon as they are able to do so. When returning, please deposit the items in the outside book-drop located in the brick wall outside the exit door.
Inter Library Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary Loan continues to function, albeit in a somewhat limited capacity.
- Book Loans: Currently, only 30% of OCLC libraries have resumed lending physical materials (e.g., books, DVDs, etc.). As such, please be aware that if you decide to place a request for a physical item chances of receiving it are much lower than pre-pandemic days. Current turnaround time for physical items is 10-14 business days (sometimes longer).
- eBooks: eBook requests are possible but are not guaranteed; many libraries are currently unable to fill certain eBook requests due to licensing restrictions.
- Copies from Materials Not Owned by Dacus: Most book chapter and journal article requests are easy to fulfill. Five hundred (500) OCLC libraries report having access to their physical materials, which has recently made it possible to request copies from physical books and print journals not owned by Dacus Library. Current turnaround time for journal articles is 3-5 business days.
- Copies from Print Materials Owned by Dacus: Please see the PASCAL and ILL Services sub-tab entitled 'Requesting Copies of Dacus-Owned Materials' for instructions on how to request copies from print books and journals housed within the Dacus collection.
- Textbooks: The Interlibrary Loan Department is unable to request textbooks from other institutions.
Patrons who still have Interlibrary Loan materials that were checked out during Spring Semester should begin returning them as soon as they are able to do so. When returning, please deposit the items in the outside book-drop located in the brick wall outside the exit door.
