Fulfilling the Promise

With open doors, Winthrop University stands to continue fulfilling the promise of providing education to all. Lifelong learning and championing our student body are the heartbeat of our institution. We embrace inclusion, we embrace access, and we embrace each person with a will to learn and a passion for excellence.

Ways to Engage

Scholarship

The Roddey, Johnson, Gladden, Meriwether Endowed Scholarship fund honors the four pioneering African-American women who first integrated Winthrop. This fund, while recognizing our  "firsts," provides assistance to meet the needs of today's minority students from South Carolina. For more information, please contact the Office of Development at 206 Tillman Hall, 803/323-2150.

Thank you for considering a gift to the Roddey, Johnson, Gladden, Meriwether Endowed Scholarship fund. Your gift, commensurate with the value you place on access to higher education, will be celebrated at the Fulfilling the Promise Banquet and Recognition event on October 11, 2014, and will impact deserving minority students for years to come.
