Music Research Guide: Finding Articles

Finding Articles

You can find scholarly articles in a variety of ways and places -- through databases, peer-reviewed journals, the library search system (OneSearch), or even Google Scholar. This page provides a list of commonly used databases and journals for the field of music, a video tutorial for Dacus Library's search system (OneSearch), and some search tips to find articles.

Academic Journals

The following peer-reviewed academic journals are online access, and require login using Winthrop credentials.

OneSearch Tutorial

Here's a quick tutorial on how to use the library's search system, OneSearch. This tutorial also provides search strategies that you can use in any of our databases. If you aren't finding what you need in the databases listed below, you can use OneSearch for broader results! OneSearch is integrated with our databases and includes search results from all our databases.

PASCAL Delivers & ILL (Interlibrary Loan)

PASCAL Delivers

If you are looking for an item that we don't have at Dacus Library, you can request to borrow a book from another South Carolina academic library through our free, state-wide rapid delivery service, PASCAL Delivers

To search for items within the PASCAL network, choose "PASCAL Libraries" from the drop down in your OneSearch search box.

ILL (Interlibrary Loan)

If you need to borrow or gain access to an item that is not owned by Dacus Library (books, journal articles, dissertations, etc.) and is not available through PASCAL Delivers, you may request to borrow an item through our Interlibrary Loan services.
