Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a cooperative service between libraries that allows eligible Winthrop faculty, staff and students to obtain materials not owned by Dacus Library. This service includes borrowing from other libraries books, photocopies of periodical articles, microfilm copies of dissertations, and other needed items. We cannot order materials owned by or available at Dacus Library or accessible through our electronic resources. Please be sure you have searched our online catalog before ordering!

* * *PLEASE NOTE: the Interlibrary Loan Department is unable to request textbooks from other institutions.* * *

(Please read before requesting materials):

Physical Items: 10-14 business days (sometimes longer)
Journal Articles: 3-5 business days

The COVID virus has made it more difficult for the Interlibrary Loan Department to fill many requests for physical items. Currently, only 30% of Interlibrary Loan suppliers have resumed lending physical materials (e.g., books, DVDs, etc.). This drastically reduces our options when seeking out loans. Please be aware that we will do our best to fill all requests; but also be aware that not all requests are possible to fill.

The COVID virus has also increased the amount of time it takes for borrowed physical materials to reach us. Many libraries are operating at 50% capacity, and it could take several days before they are able to process and ship items. Please allow us the standard 10 to 14 business days for book/loan requests, but please understand that it could take longer.

Articles are still relatively easy to obtain as most libraries have access to and can "lend" from their electronic journals. Please allow us the standard 3 to 5 business days for article/copy requests.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times. Please feel free to email us if you have any questions or concerns.
