Borrowing Privileges

Special Borrowing Privileges

Special borrowing privileges are available to the following groups:

  • Employees of Winthrop University Campus Ministries, Winthrop University Bookstore, and Campus Food Services (With an ID card, these patrons will be added into the library system for staff borrowing.)
     
  • Winthrop University graduate students who have completed their course work and thesis credit and are one semester or summer term beyond last enrollment. (A letter from a major advisor must be presented before their borrowing privileges will be extended.  Use of the library beyond one semester or summer term requires registration for additional thesis credit.)
     
  • Employees of Federal and South Carolina State and Local agencies who need to use the library in the course of their employment. (A letter from the agency head requesting the privilege and acknowledging responsibility for materials borrowed must be presented before borrowing privileges are permitted.)
     
  • Teachers in the public schools who are supervising Winthrop University education students in their field experience - student teaching. (The College of Education provides a list of qualified teachers to the library each semester.  Borrowing privileges are for one semester.  Submission of a Research Application Form is required before access may be obtained.)

Fines and Overdue Fees

The library does not charge daily overdue fees for General Collection materials. Patrons with long-overdue materials will be billed for the replacement of those items.
